Mother birds are too dumb to kick a baby bird out of the nest. Even when a cowbird lays its giant egg in a little robin's nest the mother robin accepts it. When the cowbird baby is born (giant compared to the robin babies) it grabs most of the food so that the baby robins starve. Even then the mother robin doesn't do anything about it.

So I guess people are closer to birds than you were hoping for.
