I used to love those little packs with a couple of creams crackers, a cheese triangle and a few pickled onions you got in pubs and the minuet steak sandwiches and if you were lucky a toasted cheese sandwich, am I showing my age or does anyone else remember them too.

That sounds cozy and inviting. I remember pickled eggs in jars, and pickled sausages.
Then came frozen pizza for the microwave.
There are still places that have 'pigs in a blanket' and Irish stew and some of the good stuff - but most just have the frozen or pre-made stuff. Plastic people, plastic food.

We had the good old days. People were real and they were your friends...everybody DID know your name! A sense of cozy warm brotherhood. Gone forever, never to return. We were lucky, weren't we?

The toasties were grilled in a plastic bag! and the pies warmed in the microwave so the pastry went soggy.
