Any number of the form p/p, where p is an integer, is equal to 1, and it is an improper fraction. An improper fraction is any fraction in which the absolute value of the numerator is not less than that of the denominator.

I guess it is not present. Because in an improper fraction the numerator has to be greater than the denominator. But a fraction is equal to one if both numerator & denominator are equal.
But you could write
1 + ( 0 / 2 ) which is equivalent to 2 + 0 / 2 = 2 / 2.

It's been a while since I heard the term "improper fraction" but I though that meant that the numerator was larger than the denominator.... If so, then your asking your kids a trick question. Shame on you.
