the reason i wondered was some players are very intense about winning and with the yankees being eliminated sat maybe he was very depressed

I have to admit that did cross my mind, but I can't imagine him taking someone else down with him like that.

You mean a happy marriage and a great son.. and being one of the few lucky one's to play pro ball, making lots of money, flying around in his new plane, hanging out with his buddies, lovin' life?
yeah.. that's rough. Don't be ridiculous. Not only that, but he was with his flight instructor and reported to the tower after take-off that he was having technical (fuel) difficulties..and eye witnesses saw smoke coming out of the plane BEFORE it hit.

That doesn't explain why he would have taken his flight instructor with him.
