This is a serious question that should hopefully be supported by some reference or reliable evidence.

I am not talking about some clod who winds up and "chunks" it blindly as far as he can like a drunken discus thrower, but rather someone who can set and throw a true BOMB for distance and with appreciable accuracy.

It can be a collegian or pro (heck, even a high schooler if one exists; I saw a good kid at Drew Brees' old school in Westlake in Texas last year and he was only a junior) -- someone currently ACTIVE or reasonably available.

We often hear pundits making the charge "he can't throw long," but then someone like Matt Leinert does it. Or we hear people say "he has a gun," but it doesn't seem to ever be in evidence.

Who is the BEST at going DEEP? If you were a premier wideout going long, who would you want throwing to you?

I'd say Michael Vick has the STRONGEST arm, as evidenced throughout his entire collegiate & pro career. And he can let it fly with an economy of motion, no ridiculous windup. But his accuracy just isn't the greatest- he's not awful but he lacks touch. His major problem is that he also lacks touch on short passes, which is a much bigger handicap.

The best deep thrower currently active? Probably still Brett Favre. His arm has lost a little zip, but still is better than Bulger or Manning going deep. His problem is simply that in his old age, he's become cranky and will just ignore coverage... These days his O-line can't give him time, anyway. But block for him, and I'd rather have him throwing the long ball than any other QB.

JP Losman has a pretty good long ball. Accurate too(it's the shorter stuff that gave him problems and still does from time to time). If you doubt his arm strength....consider the Jets game. Pennington described the wind as "crazy". It was a swirling constant 20 mph that gusted up to 40, yet JP managed to lob on 50 yards to Evans, overthrowing him by half a step. That's just badass...just wait until he gets used to playing in Buffalo....

Even though he is not playing any longer I say John Elway. We would split the webbing of his recievers fingers during practice and games. This was told by Shannon Sharpe. If you want current I would say Peyton because he is the most accurate. Fastest would be Vick but you never know where the hell it's going to be, he is to inaccurate.

Well last year I would of said Carson Palmer but he just hasn't gone deep this year as much. Donovan McNabb however has got be one of my second choice's. A distant third would be Peyton Manning. Just my opinion of course.

I would say Brett Farve or Vick has the strongest all around arm. As far as just chucking it down the field as far as they can, Bishop, the old quarterback at Kansas State who is a back up at New England now through one in college 92 yards in the air.

THIS ONE IS EASY!!! NOBODY has an arm like Brett Favre. He throws the ball harder, faster, and further than anyone else in the league!
