I think it's more of an embarassment for them to play
Faroe Island..the lowest rating team or if they actually are a team!

I see a lot of nonsense-answers in here.
Also, I would like to remind everyone that France played with the Faroe Islands because they are in the same Qualifying Group (included Italy, Scotland, Georgia, Lithuania and Ukraine).
France will play again with Faroe Islands on 10/13/07 (@ Faroe Islands)
Italy will also play with them:
Faroe Islands - Italy on 06/02/07
Italy - Faroe Islands on 11/21/07
Soccer is not based on the results of other games (like saying... Scotland beat France, Ukraine beat Scotland, therefore Ukraine will beat France...): it does not work that way!!!
Each soccer game is played by two Teams of 11 players, no matter what are the player of each Team, and at the beginning of the game each Team has 50% chances of winning the game. History has thousands of examples... that is why FOOTBALL is beautiful!
That is the beauty of SOCCER!!!
And that is why the Italian Serie A or the EPL are very exciting tournaments: a little Team can beat at any times Teams like AC Milan, Juve, Internazionale, Chelsea. Manchester U., Liverpool, Arsenal, etc...

The "world champion" Italy will play Faroe Island soon, for Euro 2008 Qualifier. Consider that Italy is "better" than France..., any thing less than a 5-0 victory will be a shameful outcome. Good luck.

I know The Faroe Islands are an awful team but the only way they can improve is by playing the best teams in the world. This way their Football Association can make money and improve training facilities. I mean it was only 20 years ago the England were beating the likes of Turkey comfortably and look at them now. They finished third at the 2002 World Cup and are a very difficult team to beat.

well Mikey, did you see the ridiculous situation that happened in London??? People protested and there were Chinese thugs (Olympic officials/agents/who knows) completely running the show.It was a complete travesty. This country (UK) is not a police state as yet , but yet the Chinese and their agents completely took over the show. It was so wrong. People have a right to protest...I watched the procession. I know what you are saying, but the Chinese took their tactics into our country....that cant be right....Britain looked ridiculous.....
