No straightforward answer to this question. It all depends on the individual and the relationship the married people have.

If you love your independence but love to be with a partner then dating is as far as you should ever go. If however you love having a partner to share your life in everything you do then marriage is for you. But in that there must always be compromise.

I personally love to be married. Only way to go.

It depends on the person, but for me, when I'm single and not in a relationship I get too lonely sometimes and become my own worst enemy. For example: excessive drinking, gambling, spending etc. But when I'm in a relationship I seem to be more focused on responsibilities. So I'm happier when I'm not single.
