I do it all the time and I have a friend who calls me out on it all the time too! It's really embarrassing. I was just wondering how many other people do this. Do you usually own up to it when you're caught, or do you try to think of something clever to say to make them think you really were listening to them?

Haha!! Yeah I do it all the time, my friends get really mad...but then I get equally mad when some of them do it to me, so I've started trying really hard to listen and when I realise I haven't been listening, I tell them and ask them to start again....they don't seem to mind!??!?!

I've mastered the re-play button. If they say, "were you paying attention" I can say Yes. and try to grasp a few words that they said, so even if the point is lost, they still think I was trying to pay attention.
It's only failed on me a couple times. I daydream way too much though.

I've caught people not paying attn to me. I can tell they're on the computer instead of listening when we're on the phone. It really pisses me off and I'd rather the person own up to it.

Ive been caught a few times but i just own up to it I tell them that what ever they are talking about isn't very interesting to me.

ummm dude I smoke pot so thats my excuse! I'm the only on of my group of friends that smokes pot...so it's an excuse all my own! when I'm caught not listening or paying attention for that matter..they call me a pothead we all have a good chuckle and I get off scott free,and 98% they end up repeating what they said! ha ha ha ha so really who's the dumb asses not me ha ha,it's like my own 'inside joke' ...don't fret man many of us like to have our heads in the roses..s h i t my best pair of sunglasses are rose colored! ha ha ha

I think it is rude to not pay attention, some people cant help it though. what with ADD and everything, but I pay attention.
cant say I've NEVER done it though. just try harder and apoligize

Yes i do get caught sometimes and they'll be like "hey! are you listening to me?!" and gave me a little smack on my shoulder or back.
