I'm 22, 138lbs, I've recently been working out a lot and have dropped 16lbs in the last month, completly changed my eating habits (for the best). My last period was on September 12th, and the only person that I've been with has had a vescetminy (or however you spell it). I'm not really stressed out. The other thing is that I'm also having increased discharge too. I usually have a 26 day cycle and this means that I am officially 5 days late now.

I was going to wait a little longer to talk to my ob/gyn because I have my yearly on November 8th and was going to just hold out going early. Should I go early, or take a HPT or is it true that dropping that much weight can make you "skip" a period?

extreme weight loss can cause a missed period, so can stress, infection, and some people are just irregular. If you have always had a normal regular period then you may want to see a dr just to make sure your okay and not having any serious problems

In my case, I don't have a regular period. It is because i am only 115 lbs. and am only 5'4". I have a high metabolism and i am active in sports. Things like that can affect how regularly your period is. But the fact that you have lost weight can mess it up too, because the amount of what you weigh affects the regularity of your period. And the fact that you are stressed out can play a role in irregularity. And drinking may affect you too, but only if you drink. So all of this affects your period and when it comes. My periods are starting to become more regular. So i guess after a while of inconsistency, they will be back to normal because your body has had time to readjust to your new weight.

Working out a lot can make you skip your period because your body are adjusting to new you. I did have the same concern when i was working out a lot. I was 13 days delayed and took the test and i was not pregnant. and other times i only had a one day period. but for your own safety and a peace of mind get a pregnancy kit or visit a doctor . Good luck.

Since you dropped a lot of weight in a short time it probably put your system outta whack.Since you know your definately NOT pregnant then I'd just hold off until your scheduled appt. And talk to the OB/GYN then.

weight loss or gain, stress, changing eating habits any of those things will cause you to skip a period. i do not think you are pregnant. also if you have an infection (since you are having increased discharge), this could cause you to be late.

a new job, exercise, stress, all of those things can make you skip a period. Unless you've been like clock work every month before... I'd say there's no need to rush to the doctor's.

Starting a workout schedule could have something to do with it. And even if you don't feel stressed doesn't mean you aren't.

I would take a test. 16lbs in a month isn't bad, so go to your doctor or take a test.
