Smiles I enjoyed the term "Little"

I've worked in venues that were as small as 65 seats, and sometimes less than half were occupied. I've also worked venues that seated thousands, and found the same to be the case for occupancy.

I've also experienced theater in the USA, and Europe, and find the situations largely the same. It's a passion, not only to perform, but to enjoy a performance, and NEW, small, sometimes Obscure venues, plays, and performers, offer the best time I've ever spent in that situation.

I most enjoy community theater for a few reasons. The intimacy of it, and the connections with people who are likely involved on other levels besides buying a ticket for a performance. I also enjoy story telling "plays" etc, because writing and story telling are one of my passions.

Whatever the performance, the best is one that "involves" the audience. It might be the cheesiest, most diminished budget, small cast play, but if it captures the attention, intrigues or gets the audience to "relate" and sends them out after the fact, still talking about the 90 minutes they just spent,,, Then it is as Golden as any Oscar.

I try and make at least three shows a year. I'm stage managing one now (does that count). Some of the shows I see are at the smaller community theatres, but I also like to see the productions at our larger regional theatre.

In a way, I'm glad I don't live in NY city. I couldn't aford to make all the shows there.

My favorite plays? Hmmm... How much space do we have here???

I've gone to a local outdoor theatre and I've seen Abraham! and Calamity Jane. I've also been to a larger outdoor theatre (the Muni) and I saw Cinderella (my music teacher was the fairy godmother!) I loved both places, but the little outdoor one more. I think I may try to audition for some productions there.

Absolutely, we have one just a couple of miles from home and go there several times a season. Choose based on each play.

I love to go to plays at my old college. I've seen the students do Hamlet, The Mad Woman of Chaillot, and one called Benedictions. They were all really enjoyable.
