I am 19 years old and just recently broken up with girlfriend after 1.7 years, and now whenever I try to sleep in my own bed I get really uncomfy and always end up having a bad nights sleep and waking up tired. I sleep in a bottom bunk of a bunkbed and share the room with my 13 year old brother, I was just wondering if there was anyway I could imrpove my sleeping habbits or make myself more comfortable, it may just be due to the breakup but recently I walked into my room and thought "This doesn't feel like my room anymore" any advice would be helpful.

It's because you are sharing a room with your brother, and feel you need your own space - this is only reasonable at 19. If it is not possible, can you rearrange the room to get some privacy? You probably do feel like this after the breakup, not because of the breakup as such, but because you are thinking about things more. Spending more time at home, perhaps, and realising that you don't actually have much privacy. Try to get out with mates more and get some exercise - and last but not least, check if you have a dodgy mattress - it might make quite alot of difference.
Good luck!

How can it be your room if you share with your brother? Sounds to me that you need a room of your own to feel comfortable. If you can not do that, then you need to make your own space in another way. Like moving things around and re-doing your wall space with different things etc. Make sure you do not drink pop with cafine in it a couple of hours before you go to bed. Sometimes that will interfer with sleep. Try listening to music with head-phones to block out other distractions. Change your bed to have your head where your feet use to be. The main thing is though is to have your own space. See if you can make that happen by talking to your parents about having your own room. Good luck!

I agree--it's time you needed your own space-even if it's the basement..? Bunk beds were not made for 19 year olds, either. If you have to stay in that bed (for now) go out to Linens-N-Things (or Bed, Bath & Beyond) and get a foam matress topper. It will make the bed so much more comfortable. They only cost $25. I'm sure Mom & Dad will get it for you.

It sounds as if you're finding it difficult to settle after the break up. It'll come, give it time.
