I think it is shameful and something you don't see in other countries. Same goes with actors. The fact that we pay someone in a movie or who plays a game more than we pay the President of the United States (not a specific one...any President we've had) is a disgrace to our country. But, for those of us who buy a ticket to a sporting event or to a movie, we are condoning this and by our purchase, supporting it.

As for teachers, firemen and policemen...I agree with everyone else that these folks should be paid more. Especially firemen and policemen as they work around the clock to keep us safe and take their life in their hands each work day. How many of the rest of us kiss our loved ones good-bye when we leave for work and then wonder if we'll see them again?

Disgusting. It's a good thing I'm not a sports fan. It's been said that the reason they are paid so much is because their athletic career is so short. It should be a requirement for the athletes who are being scouted by the pros to finish college, that way when the athletic career is over then the athlete can find work in the field in which they have their degree.

I think athletes are WAY over paid, its rediculous. I think teachers are under paid, but at the same time, Im glad they get what they get, cuz most teachers arnt teaching our kids a thing...I think firefighters are under paid. They save lives, thats about the most important thing a person can do.

I think construction ppl with an education to learn their field are under paid, without them we wouldnt have any of these buildings. I think lawyers are Over paid, I think doctors are Over paid, they dont help us like they should and their services are just outrageous.
I also think minimum wage should be raised. Its been too low for TOO long.

I used to think that athletes should be paid enough that they wouldn't be tempted to shave points and such, but that doesn't seem to stop them. I think the quality of our education system would improve if we paid our teachers more, but they would have to have strict screening and exams to qualify, in my opinion. Firefighters should make more than doctors. They both save lives, but how many doctors do you know of that have died while trying to save someone's life? Police should be paid enough to keep them honest. The only reason for a cop to become a criminal is the temptation to take bribes or skim drug money. If we paid them enough, that temptation would be reduced. They risk their lives for us like firefighters, but they're paid like garbage men.

In my opinion, teachers, police, firefighters...should make WAY more than professional athletes. WAY more.

if we really object to salaries, all we need to do is stop going to games. less income means less money to spend. this might not knock salaries down to a reasonable level, but it's a start. teachers et al should be paid more but who really values what we do?
