I am replacing my front porch lightbulb and don't think the 60w that was in there was the right wattage, is there some way to find out what wattage is correct??

Thanks

Light fixtures are sold with a little sticker (called a label) which indicates the proper light bulb to use. These stickers are often found around the socket that you screw the light bulb into. You'll have to climb up and peek into the fixture and see if you can find the label (it could have faded or fallen off from age). If it's not there, unless you happen to know what company manufactured the fixture, you're out of luck. 60w bulbs are pretty much standard and I would be quite surprised if the fixture is labelled for a max. 40w bulb. Avoid the 100w unless you are sure the fixture is designed to accommodate that wattage. Good luck.

All light sockets will be 120v/60hz, so the wattage you put in is a matter of how much light you want there; if you want bright, put in a 100 or 120 - if you want average to dim, put a 60 back in.

to save energy, I recommend a fluorescent bulb - same light output for about 1/4 the wattage.

You can use up to 100 watt

It's a bulb, not rocket science
