I have official addidas numbers and letters for my football shirt but i am not sure how to attach them myself. I presume it would involve using an iron....

They should have come with instructions.
Try putting them where you want them, covering them with a damp tea towel and pressing hot iron on them. Press, do not rub.
If that doesnt work you are gonna have to sew them

I would use a hot iron with a piece of fabric between the iron and the numbers and letters you are attaching. Be careful not to touch the numbers with the iron itself....I assume they are plastic coated or maybe felt. Start with the iron on a medium setting and turn it up as the letters begin to bond with the jersey. Could be tricky but I wish you luck.
