I'm 5 weeks pregnant and haven't told my boss yet. I have some packages that he wants me to move out of the office, but I'm afraid that if I lift them, I may hurt the baby. Can anyone tell me what's a safe amount to lift?

at only 5 weeks you should be able to lift what you normally lift

I was told no more than 25-30 pounds but that was when I was around 6 months along. You do need to be up front with your boss though because at some point your duties will have to change if it requires a lot of lifting. Listen to your body and also speak to your doctor on what you can and cannot do with during your pregnancy so not just the baby is safe but you well.

I would not be lifting anything that you might feel could strain you at any time during your pregnancy. You really should tell your boss if it is going to affect your job. Your boss has to be understanding to your condition. Pregnancy is not an illness, but I believe that it is better to be safe than sorry. Also ask your doctor what a safe weight is to lift during these early weeks. If you are healthy and the pregnancy is going well he or she may give you the go ahead. Good luck and take care of your little bun in the oven!!

5 weeks is pretty early on, so here's what I say. You can still lift a fair amount, but don't stress yourself. Take what you'd normally be comfortable lifting, divide it by two, and you can call that your safe lifting weight. If that doesn't sound good, I recommend just telling your boss about your pregnancy. At this point in time, a fetus is a very delicate thing, so please be careful! Good luck with whatever you end up doing.

I was always told that anything over 5 lbs was not good, but now that we are in the 21st century things have changed and the doctors are realizing we are not these fragile china dolls who will break. I was told by my doctor around 35 lbs if I remember right. I was shocked when she said this. I mean look at pregnant women who have 3, 4, and 5 year old children who they carry around and they are all fine. Congratulations by the way. It's an amazing experience!!!

As long as you don't feel you're lifting to much and there isn't any restraint on you you should be fine, i wouldn't tell your boss until at least 12 weeks when your ut of that danger zone. If you feel what you're lifting may be too heavy just tell your boss it's too heavy, goodluck x

lift as little as possible!! If doing your job endangers your baby, do you not think you should tell your boss as soon as possible? Your boss will have to keep it quiet until you want to let evetyone else know and it will stop you being asked to do things like this. Baby comes first!!

It is not safe to lift any amount. You can harm your baby if you do. Tell your boss!

i wouldn't try to lift more than 10 lbs. if they are heavy just be honest and speak up. don't risk yours or your babys health for a job. it is not worth it.
