I don't think my daughter feels pain, or at least not much. She doesn't cry when she gets shots or blood drawn. She recently got teeth and has been biting her tongue and lip to the point of making it bleed. She doesn't cry when she does this, I just look and there is blood running out of her mouth. She is 11 months old. The is a thing called CIPA. Congenital insensitivity to pain with anhidrosis. It involves the inability to feel pain, inability to sweat, inability to control temperature along with several other things. My daughter does not sweat. She does not control her temperature either. Does anyone else have these expierences?

My son has a high pain thresh hold as well. He rarely cries during shots. He is 3 and got stung by a bee and just sat there and watched it happen. He didn't even flinch. I had to pull the stinger out and he didn't care. He will fall and get right back up and do it again. However, this isn't all of the time. He did split his head open when he was 15 months old and screamed like crazy.

I understand this may not get read, due to the age of the question. I am 28 and i have CIPA, and id like to comment that it hasnt hindered my ability to fit in. I just have to give self examinations after rough activities. I have been told i will have a shorter life, but i accept the challange. The only advice i can give is stay involved emotionally as empathy is not a strong suit for us. Thanx

I would take her to the pediatrician and have this checked out. I am surrised nothing was said when she washaving blood drawn. this disorder is very rare but serios. I would just call for an appiontment and not explain everything over the phone. Gray's Anatomy just had an episode about this nad I don't want you to get blown off because of that. If you don't get the answer you want take her to a your local childrens hospital and ind someone there to evaluate your daughter.

Though some children can handle pain better than others I dont believe she should be able to bite her lips and tongue to the piont of blood and not cry. Not every symptom has to be there for a particular diagnosis. Please call the doctor and tell him/her your concern. It is something that needs to be checked out. It may get worse if she doesnt feel pain.I have children that have been diagnosed with certain things only having one symptom though after awhile others started to show up but they knew what it was. Please get her checked as i know you will. I know it hurts you to know something could be wrong but you will get threw this. Remember it may be nothing.

My daughter has a high pain threshold also, I know what you are going through. You can take her to the dr. and the will run a battery of test. The will be able to tell you.

They just did a show on Greys Anatomy last week on a girl who had this, it could be very dangerous because this little girl hurt herself and had internal bleeding, with no pain...

Definatly go to the Doctors!

If she hasn't been seen by a health professional yet then I would take her to be checked out. It could be potentially dangerous if she doesn't feel pain. I have two young children and they both cry at the slightest little bump.

It is very rare, but some people are unable to feel pain. It is very dangerous. Go to your Dr immediately so they can do tests.

I think this is something you should go to your doctor about. This is a very serious condition so if you really do suspect that she has this then you need to seek medical attention.

It sounds like you've done your research. Now it's probably time to take your findings to your Dr.
