Sulphur biproducts from either anaerobic bacteria (bad breath) or food digesting if it is from the stomach. Onions also release Sulphur when crushed and why people smell that so strongly. Other foods can cause that smell as well.

mabey thats what they ate. go smell someones burp who just ate mint. then see if it smells like rotten eggs.
