My own favourite at the moment is Ollech and Wajs.
They're all Swiss made, tough as nails and keep really good time. These are possibly the cheapest high end watches you can get... They charge a couple of hundreds for a watch that most top brands would ask thousands for and these actually will last a lifetime because they're made from high end components. What's more, if you write to them to make a comment or ask a question, it has happened that the actual owner of the brand replied (!!!) I don't think many brands do that.
The only thing is, you have to like BIG watches...

I just got a JLo watch that is adorable. The dial is asymmetrical heart shape with yellow gold trim, the longer arrow (or whatever they are called) has little tiny heart pointing. And it has metal band which is white gold. It looks so pretty and elegant and everyone who sees it compliment it, even people I don't know.
I also like GUESS watches.
I think rolex is for old people and it's so overrated that it's boring!

I have a RipCurl tide watch. I like it because it looks professional (it's a silver band with mother of pearl face) but it also tells me the tide at my local beach as well as the moon phase and date... it wasn't cheap either!
Also, I can go 660 ft down in the water (which I've never done) but I never have to take it off in the shower or anything. The battery is supposed to last 3-5 years and I send it back to the company to replace it to keep it water tight.

Rolex is over-rated, but they did a terrific job in marketing the brand name. I like Jaeger LeCoultre, one of the top ten watchmakers in the world. Their watches are reasonably priced given their superb quality & their own invented movements. They are not flashy. Owning one shows your appreciation for fine craftsmanship.

Watches are to tell the time...nothing more. If you like the look AND they dont need batteries and keep time its a given they will be the best. Labels are for dumb blondes. Go for a watch you like that doesnt need batteries........or stop whining and buy a replaceable cheap watch each year.
To buy an expensive battery model is beyond wasteful and egotistical....its way into the aggressive "der" mode and very unattractive.

I like Timex. They have lots of styles, the prices are reasonable, and they last forever.
