Where do you work/what do you do?
Id like to live a more "alternative" kinda life, ie get facial piercings, more tattoos, dye my hair pink etc but I work as a Legal PA so I would get sacked/not hired.
I need to earn good money, not work in a shop for minimum wage (I have big debts).
What kinda work can you do if you look different?

I love your question. As a multi-pierced, tattooed lady, I started my own business, worked awhile looking "usual" earned enough money and used it wisely by starting a solid business. If you don't like that idea, you can work for more "modern" and "tolerant" companies or people, they are out there, my boyfriend is tattooed, pierced, goth and with the Lukas Rossi hair (way before Lukas was on TV, mind you) and he found a solid job. Go to New York or L.A. maybe. This is cool. I totally support you. Good luck!

There's lot of things.

You can still have piercings and lots of tattoos and be a legal PA. I work for one of the largest national banks and I have both. Lots of tattoos and piercings (16 piercings all together, to be honest... and they're not all in my ear!)

Tattoos can be easily hidden if you get them in the right places.

It all just depends on the type of work you're wanting to do through life though. There are many jobs that you can get to still have your tattoos and piercings noticeable.

I work with the elderly and they find my tattoo's intriguing.
Having said that, I do cover them up when my manager comes to visit.
Having the freedom of individuality is a right, however, flaunting that individuality in the wrong place at the wrong time can cause problems as not everyone is as tolerant as we would like them to be.
There is no harm in getting more done, it might just be a case of being discreet in you placing of piercings/tattoos.

i am a western all around cowgirl. i am only 20 so i dont understand as much as you might but down here in alabama i have not seen a change in the clothes have not changed. the rough housing is due to people wanting to win more instead of learning and doing what is right. children now days are tought to push their horses to make them better, i was not brought up that way i show love and compassion to my horses and that works just as well.

U can work in a sk8 shop! Or you can find someone with tattoos, piercings and things like that who owns something(example:bank(like, yeah right), police station(yeah,yeah...)) and he will hire you....Or you could work in a sex shop...... Or u can start your band and hope you get famous.... Those are some things I will do when I grow up and have to work...Oh, and you can make jewlery(whatever its written...) or cook or something...

Why don't you just keep that side of your life seperate from work? Be professional and smart during the week and let of steam at the weekend.

You can't have everything!

I would say any work, its now how you look but how you do your job and basically they are been discriminatory for sacking you for your beliefs in dress sense.
