Yeah man! I'm in a band and I play music I don't care for, but I still enjoy to play. I'd love to learn some Johnny Cash, cuz now me and the band are only learning stupid Weezer and Modest Mouse songs. The only song I REALLY enjoy playing in my band is Chewbacca! What A Wookie! by Supernova. But my lack of influence my band is for another day. But yes I think you need to branch out a bit. Do you only have an accoustic? Learn some songs by Beck or Elliott Smith. Or some faster ones by Blur. Also, try some electric techniques on the acoustic so if you get an electric, you'll already be practiced enough to rock out :D

I personaly LOVE guitar Im the best in my age group U/13 But I would be sad to leave my guitar thats why when I get the chance I play some Led Zeppelin.You might consider going into music like me!
