Time savings certificates.?

I have found some Time Savings Certificates that my grandmother had bought for me many years ago. The problem is that I think the banks are now closed or have changed names.Where or how do I get info on about cashing these.Please help.

if they were backed by the fdic i would contact the treasury dept.
