Why do art classes always get cut over other classes?

Because when the budget gets tight and the school board is looking to cut expenses...Art classes suddenly become superfluous. They alway all do that! When things get really bad they hit physical ed. Dumb idea all around.

Elections are coming.

Government officials want to be impressive to voters, so they need to find some money fast to fund things they have been neglecting. The arts are always the first to get funding ripped, but never sports.

Because culture is undervalued in the US. Get out now, move to England. It's not perfect, but it's much better.

Because the people who run the school systems think art is not important.

People who can't paint seem to be able to function in society better then those who can't read or write or do math.

I'm not suggesting art should be cut, just trying to say why. Its a lower priority.
