My dad always referred to the 10% as in "10% of every group are the ***holes, or idiots, etc."

Idiot comes from the Latin word "idiota" which means ignorant person, so with that being said I would say 100% of people in the world are idiots including myself. This I say because we are ALL ignorant at one thing or another, for some it could be the ignorance of Law, for others the ignorance of Medicine, or Math or pretty much anything else. We are a very intelligent species, but we don't know EVERYTHING in the world. I for one don't like the use of the word Idiot , I think it is a demeaning word and would not call anyone that. But then that's just me, it's my opinion.

True "idiots" comprise something less than .05% of the world's population. In mental retardation, the term refers to a retarded person mentally equal or inferior to a child two years old.
