I like how all the Japanese people give me plenty of room on the train because they don't want to sit next to a "Gaijin". I like how the Police are so intrested in getting to know me they stop me on my way to work/school and ask me for my Visa, nice they wanna know my name and talk to me and ask how long I have been in Japan, where I'm from and where I'm going. I like that when I speak Japanese to Japanese people they respond by saying "No English..sorry". I love the little school kids who yell "Haroo" at me after I pass them. I love that I can't go to most Onsen's because I have Tattoo's. But most of all I love reading post's on forums from "Otaku" who have never been here that think Japan is a big fantasy land of culture and anime, when I know from living here it is anything but. Don't get me wrong there are things I like about living here but day to day life is different then just visiting.

The people are incredibly polite and kind.

The cities are cleaner than most.

They have maintained an amazingly vibrant culture. See some festivals!

It's safe - for the most part. (Women do need to be careful of perverts. There are many incidents of sexual abuse or harassment.) You won't be robbed.

The food is healthy and tasty.

So many facilities are extremely convenient to use.

If I had to say why I love Japan, I'd be here all day so I'll summarise in 1-10 word answers:

Culture
Pop music
Anime
Food
Lifestyle
The sense of honour the people have
Family closeness
Lack of crime
Incredibly high IQs
Japanese modern art
Their respect for nature

I would love to go there. I WILL one day but I'm going to have to do university first.

~Peace~N~Love~'s got a contradicting attitude to his name.
What's up with that?

Anyway, the best thing about Japan is the four seasons.
Especially summer and fall.
It's beautiful. I think NYC and other North eastern cities are beautiful too but very different from Japan.
Go to Kyoto around the end or Oct to mid November and you'll know what I'm talking about.

I love Japan. But still don't have the chance to go there. I love their language and culture there, although I don't know much of it.

Japan is great once you get past the fact that the language barrier is so great. You will have a blast though.

Japan is a leading nation in scientific research and the production of innovative technological products. Some of the most important industrial contributions include chemicals, metals, electronics, robotics, entertainment, machinery, industrial robotics and optics. It is also one of the leading nations in health care and medical research and robotics having produced QRIO, ASIMO, Aibo, etc and possesses more (402,200 out of 742,500) than half of world's industrial robots used for manufacturing.[5]

Japan is making headway into aerospace research and space exploration. It founded its aerospace exploration agency, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency in October 1, 2003 and is involved in many missions and projects and a possible independent manned mission to the moon having shifted some of its focus away from international efforts beginning 2005. It's also one of the significant contributing members to the International Space Station project, the most significant being Kibo (Japanese Experiment Module) module that will complete installation in 2007.
