Super Nintendo easily. Better games, bigger range, more popular and just too many classic games/characters to name.

In the beginning, the genesis won hands down. Nintendo fumbled around with the original NES system, so Sega got an 18 month head start. It had some fantastic games.

SNES caught up towards the end of the 16 bit era with the FX chip (not that they did much with it) and also made some fantastic games.

I think they're about even, they both had good points and bad points. However, to answer your question, if I had to choose between a genesis and a snes now, with their current libraries of games and no more additions, I would get a SNES. I think...

Sega

Anyone remember the old "Sega Channel?"

You could get this service from your cable provider and play a ton of sega games for a fee of like 10 bucks a month. It rarely worked but it was fun.
