Every state should have the same amount of Senators. Why did we choose 2? One for each makes sense. If we are concerned about a state not getting a chance to change their senator but every six years, then why not use 3 senators. Then every 2 years, one of the 3 senators would be up for election.

Any idea why we settled on 2?

It came from the Virginia Compromise.
One was not enough, three was too many. I think it speaks volumes for the wisdom of our founding fathers. If you just had one, then that one person would be soley responsible for representing their state in Congress. You can see how it would be very easy to abuse that type of power. As for three, the states were small at the time, three probably seemed excessive. Also, abuse could come in the form of two against one, continually. Two is a good balance, they either agree or disagree, but no ganging up two against one

Edit to add: oops, my bad. did I type virginia compromise? I meant the New Jersey compromise, lol!!!
the new jersey plan called for equal representation from all the states, since they were a small state. the Virgina plan called for representation based on population because they were a large state. the Compromise came in a bicameral system with the senate based on NJ plan and the house based on the VA plan.
Sorry bout that!

the founding fathers wanted to make sure there would always be an even number of senators for voting purposes no matter how many states there were multiplied by 2 its always an even number. This would ensure that no group of states could form an alliance and control the senate.

That is just the way the government set it up. I guess whoever did it this way was trying to give balance but then again if every state had just one or every state had 3 there would still be an equal # for all states.

3 is too many
1 is not enought, what if someone is sick, is being kicked out etc then no senator

also just think how big a crowd that would be 3x50=150 VS 2x50=100
50 extra voices is a lot to have to deal with, it might make it harder for things to get through
