is it painful to eat chilli peppers? because the sensation that u perceived when eating chillies isnt the same as the sensation of pain (different nerves tract). capsicin is the chemical responsible for the hot sensation( a sensation different that the usual 4 tastes). it wont last long because your nerves have kind of adaptation capability. thus even though the stimulant persists, it wont fire any nerve impulses. besides,, you wont feel 'hot' in your stomach as it is covered by mucin(mucus); a pretty much powerful protection against potentially harsh substances.
