I have been with my boyfriend since we were 17, and we both love each other like hell. But my friends keep telling me that it's ridiculous to be so serious with someone form such a young age. Now that we are planning to move in together, they go on and on about how pathetic that is.

How on earth do I shut them up, without seeming rude?

When I was away at college, and we had a long distance relationship, they used to tell me that he must be cheating on me behind my back, because he has loads of girls after him.

By the sounds of it, they seem jealous that you and him are happy together. Just tell them thanks for their opinion but you have made up your mind and are happy with the decisions you are making and would appreciate it if they left it at that!

Good luck, i say if you are as happy as you sound, then everything will work out just fine!!

Jealous much? Either you friends have hopeless lovelives or they are shallow empty people who think that cheap thrills are the same as a quality relationship. If it works for you, good luck and I wish you well. You are luck to have met someone you feel so strongly about and are obviously so comfortable with. Let them ***** all they want. Just remind them when they get hooked up you'll phone them all that time and remind them how "Pathetic" they are being and see how they like it. Good luck to you both.

Ok, not throwing my personal opinion in on young people (BTW your older than me) getting serious when they are young, but sticking to your question, I will answer your question. First, you have to aware them of your feelings. Avoid the subject of your boyfriend. If your friends bring it up, tell them you would rather discuss something else with them. If they ask why, say you always end up in a worse position when you discuss it with him or her because you feel they are too critical. As a last resort, pull away, even if they are trying to help you, they are hurting you and you need to get away.

either they are crazy jealous, they don't want to lose their friend to some guy or they know something about him and they think he will break your heart.
However if you really love him and you feel good about moving in together, that's all that really matters.
Explain to your friends that you are happy, no man will ever come between your friendship and ask if they have a problem with him.

Good luck. It's an awkward position to be in.

I would say it depends on how old you are now. I have known a few high school sweethearts to get marry and stay together. Sometimes you have to be rude a tell your friends wassup. They could just be jealous of your good thing.

You are obviously in love, your so called friends might just be a bit envious of you. Good luck to you both. Just tell your friend that it is your choice and they should be happy for you both..

Don't you get it they are very jealous of what you have, and maybe you should tell them that. Good for you that your relationship is still going strong. Maybe you should look for new friends.
