I wouldn't necessarily say differ ant than others. The true definition of being a fan is first a love for the game. It is unfortunate that there are not as many hockey fans. I believe the reasoning for that would be the financial burden of playing hockey since I know of no other sport that costs as much money per year to play as an everyday athlete.

I think that we are more passionate about hockey- it's more like a religion than just a hobby or a sport, at least it is for me. Hockey fans are never fair weathered, even if our team is not doing so hot, we still back them up no matter what! Also, I believe that the NHL rivalries are stronger than any other sport.

A Zamboni fetish, a dislike of oral surgeons, and the practice of the players being advertising billboards does not come across as being tacky.
