Men do have rights ... they are humans and are covered by codes of "human rights".

Since men have traditionally assumed the dominent position in most societies it is other minority groups who need positive support not men. Of course there are exceptions where specific males (e.g. those perceived as weaker and picked on by bullies) or subgroups of males (e.g. gay men) need protection but mechanisms (more or less) exist for that.

It could therefore be asked, not why there isn't a code of men's rights, but why it is necessary to have all the separate codes for other minorities? Shouldn't it be enough to ensure all groups are recognized as having equal rights under the general rubric of "human rights"?

That said, I suggest that in North America particular we have taken things too far. We now have an overemphasis on "political correctness", and attempts to correct past preferential treatment / status of men has resulted in situations where men are almost second class citizens by default.

Some examples using women as the subject (You can likely come up with similar examples for other groups):
- It is increasingly unacceptable for men to bar women from organizations but OK for the creation of women only clubs.
- there are incentives for hiring of women (women but not men are a recognized group, like "visible minorities" or the handicapped) in organizations (particularly in government) where women may already represent a majority. One Canadian federal organization is 60% women, yet women are still officially recognized as a target group).
- Targets to increase women or visible minority representation in various areas (e.g. managers in a firm or government department) may result in a less qualified person getting the job simply because the visible minority pool is much smaller. This may be inevitable and acceptable in the short run, but it does result in weaker organizations and potentially compromised results.

Political correctness goes much further though (for example, in the naming of a "garbage man" as a "sanitary engineer" or a "mentally retarded" person as "developmentally delayed") and taken to extremes begins to have deleterious impacts on society .... but this is really a topic for elsewhere.

It is because men allow the rights of others. We do not need to have our rights affirmed. We take them. We stand up for our rights others are two weak.

well, in many, if not most, situations, it's men who are making the "rights" for everyone else, so doesn't that make them the ones with the most rights? The other groups need to have their rights specifically assigned to them, as oftentimes they are a "weaker" group and can't stick up for themselves. Not always, but in general. Believe me, men have lots and lots of rights around the world...

No, because men have rights that are understood since they are the ones who wrote the oiginal laws that favored them since the days of Roman times, none of the above had any rights at all. Maybe when things equal out a little, maybe men can have their rights too.

No, for some reason men's rights just seem to be inherent. Everyone else needs to defend.

Since men established the rights for themselves first, all of the other rights are add-ons to the default...men's rights.
