The distance is about 960 miles but I really question both the times and the directions given by the various computer directions services.
Utah highway 9 takes you right through Zion National Park while it is pretty it is also slow and possibly expensive. .If you take Utah 9 into Hurricane - make sure you fill up-
Make a right on S. Main St. go 2 blocks and then take 59 through Hilldale UT/ Colorado City AZ to Fredonia AZ
make a right on 89 A go uphill to Jacob Lake [ N. Rim Grand Canyon] and then downhill crossing the Colorado at Lee's Ferry/Navajo Bridge then taking 89 as per directions into Flagstaff
The problem with this route is that from I-15 to US 89 there is a lot of elevation changes [ Jacob Lake is approx 8000'] and at this time of year snow is another possibility. Snow also happens on I-40 and the first 30 miles or so of I-17
I I was driving this ( and I have ) and scenery was not a factor I would take US 93 all the way to Vegas, go over Hoover dam, stay on 93 into kingman AZ ,-get gas
take I-40 east and then US 93 south to Wickenburg AZ
left at the light[US 60 ] and then left at sr 74 - Carefree hwy- to I-17 and then South 3 or 4 exits to loop 101
This route is the all desert route.
Have a safe trip

Approximately 943 miles. Estimated drive time 14 hours and 10 minutes.

When taking a road trip it is always best to map the route that you will be taking. It is also best to let your family or friends know when you will be leaving and when they should expect you to arrive. Also do (yourself) or have someone do some preventive maintanance checks on your vehicle. Taking a road trip is a nice thing but always be safe. Good travelling!!
