It depends. Some schools require everyone to wear the same thing. For girls it is usually Black leotard and pink tights. For Men it is all black. If you are free to wear what you want, I would go for whatever you are most comfortable in. It is just important that you wear something tight, so your teacher can see all your movement.

Whatever makes you feel comfortable. I personally would prefer a unitard.

a leotard...they aren't as hot for me to dance in, during the winter though i suppose it might be useful...I've never seen a girl wear a unitard....moslty guys do....but it's not unacceptable for girls to wear one...its just not as common

Most dance studios require a leotard for ballet...as you get into older classes they lean toward spaghetti strap leo's...so you can see your line etc...

(in my opinion) a leotard.
it also depends on what your studio's dress codes are.
my studio says we must wear black leotards and pink tights, but other studios are more lenient. to be on the safe side, go with a black leotard
