My favorite time to take a live or in this case very dead Christmas tree down is in July. I thought I would be nice and clean my sons house while he was out of town during the summer. I was going over to feed the dog anyway. He still had his tree up. I left it displayed for the neighbors to see till he took it to the dump. Caution to all the moms out there. Don't clean your sons homes you may be shocked at what you find.

I'll Be Home For Christmas is my favorite song.
I start putting up my decorations the weekend after Thanksgiving.
We have always had a tradition at my house that every child gets to open one Christmas present Christmas Eve night right before they go to bed. It makes getting to sleep a little easier.
My favorite memory is the Christmas of 1988. I was in the hospital and had to have 5 major surgeries in the 3 weeks before Christmas and knew I wouldn't be home for Christmas that year. I had three daughters ages 2 5 and 8 years old. I was so upset but knew there was nothing I could do about it. My husband had struggled to get what he could for the children that year and it wasn't much. The nurses on my floor knew how upset I was and felt bad for our situation. When I woke up Christmas morning, my room was over flowing with gifts for the children. They had even decorated the room and put up a tree. It was the most wonderful act of kindness I had ever seen. Every nurse and doctor at the hospital had contributed something and the girls got more than they could have ever hoped for.

So the answer to your last question is yes, I believe in Santa Claus.

I Love Christmas, and am quite the fanatic. My favorite Christmas song is 'Bells Are Ringing' by Mary Chapin Carpenter, and my favorite hymn is 'Hark! the Herald Angels Sing'. I start putting up most of my decorations the weekend after Thanksgiving, although I usually keep one or two Christmas things out all year, just as I listen to Christmas music all year 'round. I have so many warm memories of Christmas it would be hard to pick just one, so I'll just have to go with early memories of childhood Christmases, spent with family members who are no longer here. I absolutely believe in the spirit of Santa Clause!

Edited to add: maybe I do have a favorite memory. It would be the memory of the first candle-light church service I remember going to. Thinking back on how it felt when the lights were turned off, the candles lit, and when everyone started to sing 'Silent Night' still gives me goose bumps.

I don't know about decorations, but a section of my web site comes up first in Google for the search term

Christmas news letters

if you put a space between "News" and "Letters". I'm already starting to see interest. My entire site logs abot 200 visitors a day. My counter tracks the last 100. The introduction to the Christmas newsletter section has been the entry page for 10 - 15 of the last 100 visits every time I've checked, for the past three weeks, so some people are getting ready WAY earlier than I do.
