if your alternator is good it keeps recharging your battery as long as your car is running.I would however make sure you dont cross the cables.

Should be fine as long as you hook them up correctly and you start your engine before they try to jump their's. As long as your battery and alternator are healthy shouldn't be any problems. If it takes a little while for the other car to start and your worried about that it's drained your battery a bit, just take your car out for a spin to make sure the battery is fully recharged.

If your charging system is working correctly, and the other persons electrical system doesn't have any dead grounds, it should be completely safe to boost them. Just be very careful not to reverse the cables. When you attach the cables listen for the engine to bog down, if it bogs enough to make it sound like your engine will die, they may have a dead ground (positive hot wire grounding out on the body or other ground). Thats about the only time you should worry. Have a nice day, and don't be concerned about helping others, your car will be fine :)

yes, if you hook up backwards. Never trust battery cable colors. ALWAYS check on the battery for the positive side and negative side.
