any research topic in biology?

somewhat new and original like herbal medicine but that is quite common. something cool and environmental friendly and beneficial.

I would like to know more about 'insect eating plants', such as venus flytraps or pitcher plants if I had the time. I can't understand how they process the insects and if there are any "intermediate" plants. How did they evolve? Why didn't they evolve elsewhere?
