well, it all depends on the context of the question and what the situation is. tolerance is not something that is seen as or should be seen as something to be ashamed of. in the context of that phrase 'tolerance is only for the weak', it implies that if you accept, put up with or tolerate something, which is not generally acceptable or is morally wrong in general terms, you are not (as) strong- minded, articulate or clever enough as a person. but that's not always true. intolerance however, is the complete opposite, seeing as by being 'intolerant' means there are certain things and behaviours that one should tolerate in, but there are also things and behaviours that one should not be made to tolerate. like i said, it all depends on the situation and the circumstances that led to it and the consequences of it. but it doesn't always neccessarily mean that a tolerant person is weak as others have made him or her out to be.

i must say this is a very good statement, of which i found difficult to decipher and get my head around with. but i answered this as best i could. very challenging it was too!

this is cool question...

we live in a world where everybodys got an opinion of something and most of the time it is politically incorrect. When you say it, it causes lot of uproar from people who can't take it. Those who can't and give answer using violence. To tolerate something you need to have strong will and an open mind.

If you don't stand up for something you believe and you know is right (i.e. tolerate whats been said) then you are weak.

But for the greater good, its better to tolerate because everyone has different views about what is right and wrong. If you can't tolerate then everyone gonna end up expressing their feeling using violence.

Tolerance is for the wise not for weak....

I think that intolerance is for the weak. It's easy to demonize a group. Over-generalizations take little effort. If you look at everything as black and white, it is rather simple to just throw everything in one category or the other.

In reality, the world is largely grey. Although there are some generalizations that can be made about groups, they are rarely accurate for the individual. There are good and bad things about everybody, and tolerance means trying to look at the whole person instead of just dismissing someone because of a particular trait you don't like.

Intolerance is throwing the baby out with the bathwater. You lose so much.

Tolerance is not about just accepting everything. It does not imply a lack of judgment about people. I think that judging others is fine. It is just the over-generalizations and facetious judgments that are dangerous.

This statement has 2 sides. Tolerance is for the strong. You have to be able to accept others diferences. But on the other hand.... Why should you be tolerant of those who don't care about your values.... does that make you weak?

Educated people are often more tolerant of differences. All of the intolerant people that I have met were kinda dumb, this includes people who were close freinds to me for many years. Intolerance is acting on our innate primate impulse that wants us to keep everything the same and only associate with others similar to us. It takes more strength of will and character to work outside of our primal animal instincts.

let usfirst understand that tolerence is a virtue.A vritue that only great people have. we have many examples of them in front of us. all we have to do is to open our eyes and see. Let us not consider overselves as another species of animals. we have to devolop these qualities and becosme noble.
