I learned on a Kay guitar, it was a copy of a Fender Jaguar.

The best guitar I owned was an Aria Wildcat, great sound and really good action.

Go around to some shops and check out the prices. About £100 should get you a decent starter axe.

Check the action on the strings as you don't want to have to press so hard that your thumb falls off to just play a note. Similarly you don't want that is too light.

Decide on what type of music you will be playing. If you are starting rock then I always preferred a double humbucker pickup as the sound was 'thicker'.

Have a hunt around the second hand shops, you can sometimes pick up a bargain.

Best of luck.

Try going to your nearest music/intrument shop and having a look the cheapest guitars I can think of usually range from 80 - 120 pounds. 80 is probably the cheapest you can find or you could try ebay. Good luck.
