because they cant be accepted for who they really are so they try to be someone else. but you should just be yourself and accept it. because who cares what people think about you because what matters in on the inside.

Making mistakes isn't the end of the world, your human. So is wanting to be popular when you are in your teens. Being popular is equated with your self esteem. The more friends the better you feel about yourself. Eventually as you mature the TYPE of friend becomes more important than the number.

Who cares how popular you are in school you are there to get and education. I cant count the # of friends I had in school there were so many but the # I deal with now that I am grown is 0. I dont talk to or even see any of them now. Just make sure you dont let any influence your decisions to stay in school and make a life for yourself, chances are the are not going to be around when you get out anyway.

Exactly! Right on girl!
Another thing is that everyone in high school wants to be cool so they can get respect. This popularity nonsense is just for the weak-of -heart, ridiculous, and pathetic wannabees. It's just so silly it isn't worth wasting your precious patience on!
You're on the right path to sanity!

Its almost like everyone is trying to find their way and push them self to the top. If people perceive some one as the "best" most popular" etc, then they must be, right?
Perception is reality!

I think it's because everyone feels the need to be accepted and liked by their peers--especially high school kids...some lack the maturity to stand alone...

It's a also (I think) a way for them to feel accepted not for the right reasons but to feel wanted. I never understood it myself. Becoming popular you have to fit in with what other people want, not what you want.
