As long as it's beige or cream and not really, bright white.

I live in Florida and we wear white all the time. I heard on the Today show a while back that it is now alright to wear white after Labor Day.

If I gave up my whites on Labor Day I would be naked half the time. lol

It's an old, outdated rule. Currently, white just seems breezier and more summery, but you can definitely make white work in the winter.

"The explanations for this tradition range from the fact that white clothes are worse protection against cold weather in the winter to the fact that the rule was intended as a status symbol for new members of the middle class in the late 19th century and early 20th century."

...whatever the reason was one, it's not often practiced anymore.

As they say....but anymore people wear what they want anytime.....just like shorts and sweatshirt on a snowy day doesn't make sense but I see it all the time.
White deflects sun to keep you cool in the summer. Since summer ends around Labor Day you're cut off from wearing white. LOL

I don't think it's set in stone, but it would look kind of stupid in the middle of winter, someone wearing white pants or white shoes. It's just common sense. You wouldn't wear sandals when it's showing either. If it's warm or an extremely hot day after labor day, I think it's ok. But I think it depends on the weather.

My personal decision is to not wear white shoes in winter just because I am not really fond of white shoes...they look kind of medical if they are plain.

Other white I might wear if it looks appropriate to season.

However, the whole "no white after labor day" thing is passe'.

Well, I am from California so I dont agree since we dont really have the seasons. However, if you take a look at what the celebrities are wearing, (http://www.whatcelebswear.com) you will notice that white is a super hot trend right now. Everybody is still wearing it.

Here is a Pic of Paris Hilton in white

And Mischa Barton in white.

I think that white is still acceptable, since celebrities start the trends.

I don't follow rules. I wear what I like. It's warm wear I live year round so I still wear white. I don't think I would wear white pants if it were a snowy place though.

I wear any color where ever i like. I love white pants. Because we can wear any color top for white or black pants. For winter we look like a walking snow. I love it.

Non-sense. It's 2006, a woman can wear any color she wants when she wants. What does color have to do with anything? If you like white, wear it !
