UPGRADE YOUR RAM. Vista wants a MINIMUM 512, and asks for 1 GB - and these are Microsoft recommendations - and my rule of thumb is generally to double Microsoft Recommendations - so unless you have 2 GB of RAM or more, you have an underpowered machine.

That said, the x86 version of Vista should install just fine, but the x64 should be faster overall. x64 uses 64 bits ("lanes" of data, like car lanes on a highway) to perform tasks - x86 only uses 32 bits. The more lanes, the more data can be transferred. BUT, product support for Vista and especially x64 Vista may not be completely there - vendors don't often support betas and release candidates, and some don't yet support 64 bit.

1. RC2 is better than RC1, really.
2. I think the 32 bit version *might* work faster, no guarantee though. Better stick to 64

vista is a new operating system and it hasn't been tested very well so you can't say which version is better or will run better on your system

anyhow not all programs that run under windows xp support the vista operating system and not all programs may run on an 64bit operating system..thus if you still want to uninstall vista stick with the 32bit one...my opinion

cheers
