It's worth getting an expert to check your computer out at:

http://www.webuser.co.uk/forums/ubbthreads.php/Cat/0

Register, go to the Hijack This Forum, read the instructions on how to post a log, give a brief description of your problem (like you've just typed) and post your log there. The guys in there are fantastic and trustworthy and will guide you through in getting rid of anything nasty from your computer. Good luck!

DO NOT run this pop-up it will install winfixer,It is almost impossible to remove without a full re-install of windows.
Although there are some progs that claim to remove winfixer, they cannot get rid of all the spy and ad ware that winfixer installs, there is also some evidence of a key logging prog which is very dangerous if you use your computer for banking online.
Use a good pop-up stopper,I do not get any with yahoo or jeeves

Chances are you're system needs updated to microsoft service pack 2, go onto the windows update website and update it, if it is already service pack 2 download a spy-ware/ad-ware removal program such as ad-aware and that should solve, or help you with this, I will give URLs in the source section.

I would suggest you do NOT take the advice of the popup. It sounds as thoguh your PC has already been infected with adware of some sort which is producing these popups.

Get a reputable program such as Ad-Aware from Lavasoft to scan your PC for adware.

Sounds like you have a little adware bug. If you have an adware cleaning utility it's time to run it. You may want to try the Trend Micro site, also. They have a free, over the internet cleaning utility which may work for you. http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

I ran into a situation similar to this and eventually had to wipe the disk and reload everything. Hopefully you won't have to go to that extreme. However, if you do make sure and backup all your data files first.

This type of thing often happens, the pop up is a trick if you run it it will find a number of faults and then will offer to clear them but you then have to purchase the software. Ignore it get a good popup stopper

Buy a Mac. PCs are open game for all hackers, spam and popups. I bought a Mac 1 year ago and it was the best thing I ever did. I was a PC user for at least 10 years before that.

Ignore, Ignore, & close them out. They will download & spy all over your computer.
As stated in your answers, go to microsoft & check for updates on your computer,it's the windows site. click on tools across top of your screen & then click on windows update.
I recently took my 'puter in to computer guys in my area. They cleaned it back to new ($60) and installed the google tool bar which will block all the invading pop-ups.
If you'll add the windows update delivered to your computer, it will guard your computer. Also at windows site add the windows defender & you can scan & check for spyware & programs that have downloaded w/o your knowing.Easy way to find these programs after downloading is to save as in documents, & then access by right click on mouse.
You can fix everything free on your computer thru the windows site. When looking for anything U think is needing attention, search for it at the windows site in their search bar & will be easy download instructions by clicking.
Good Luck !!

I had a "microsoft" pop up recently and foolishly opened it! Posted my problem on "answers" and was told microsoft don't send pop ups - I had inadvertently let in 39 problems and 2 Trojans! Apparently never open "microsoft" pop ups. Spybot cleaned the problems up.

If you are using the Yahoo toolbar, click the pop-up button and select "enable." This does a good job of stopping pop-ups.

The pop-up you are getting are probably ads. If you are not technically inclined, you had better be careful what you click.
