Actually the first person is wrong. Their Inpulse prepaid service gives you unlimited calling to anyone in the Verizon network and free unlimited calling to anyone in the country (non Verizon carriers) between 9pm to 6am. Only catch is they take 99 cents out of your account every day (even if you don't use your phone). Which is like $30 a month (at the least). It's 10 cents per minute during the day to anyone who isn't in the Verizon network and 5 cents to send and recieve texts.

Fortunately, you don't necessarily have to sign a contract, unless you want another 1 or 2 year agreement. You can always sign up for Verizon's prepaid plan, which requires no contract at all. The only downside about Verizon's prepaid plan is that you have to pay a 99 cents daily access fee even on the days you don't use your phone. But you still get unlimited mobile 2 mobile to other Verizon customers.

If you want their prepaid plan you will not have to sign up but you cannot take advantage of mobile to mobile but you will use minutes for every call. Their least expensive plan is 400 minutes for 39.99. You will have free mobile to mobile or as they call it "in calling" Free nights and weekends too. I have Verizon and love it. If you want text & piks then it will be $10 for unlimited and $5.00 for 250 a month.
