I'm planning on flying out to Tanzania but haven't fixed a date.I have been told to get a yellow fever jab. What's the latest number of days I can leave it before I have to take the jab. Will I be allowed in to the country without the jab?

Generally 2 weeks before going. Last September We went to Tanzania by coach from Kenya, we were not asked to produce the Yellow fever inoculation certificate at the border and have since been told that if you arrive from a non yellow fever area you do not need this. I do know that if you travel from Zanzibar to mainland Tanzania you will have to produce the certificate. If I was you I would have it done to be on the safe side to save any hassles. Also you can check with the Tanzanian Embassy to make sure.

The vaccination becomes effective 10-14 days after you take the jab i.e. you need to take the yellow fever jab at least 10 days before you travel. However, I would allow 17 - 21 days for the vaccination to become effective and any side effects to wear off as this is a live vaccination (accordingly, do not take any other vaccination for at least 3 weeks before and 3 weeks after the yellow fever jab - also speak to the doctor or nurse as there are conditions under which you may be advised not to take the vaccination).

You will need to speak to the Tanzanian embassy to see if you will be allowed into the country without the vaccination, although I would advise taking the vaccination if you are medically able to do so. Tanzania may let you in but there are other countries that will not let you in if you have been to a Yellow Fever area without a jab.

A Yellow Fever jab should be administered at least 10 days before travel.
It is only necessary to have the vaccination - and provide proof of this (they give you a stamped booklet) - if you're coming from a yellow fever infected area.
The vaccine remains in the system for 10 years or more, so if you've had it within the last decade, it will not be necessary to repeat it.

You can get a jab on the day you fly. (If you want to leave it that late.)

Tanzania will NOT allow you in the country without a jab, but if you arrive without a certificate, they might have a doctor at customs who will give you a jab. The question is however, where will you feel safest getting the jab: At your own doctor, or in a Tanzanian airport?

Yello fever vaccination is mandatory ONLY IF you are arriving from a yellow fever infected area.

Otherwise ............................

Do NOT get vaccinated.

A vaccinated person is MORE likely to get a disease than a non-vaccinated person. The whole theory of vaccination is flawed. It causes a weakening of the immune system thus making those who are innoculated more susceptible to disease.
There are so many awful side effects to vaccination that it should be considered extremely dangerous.
Just sit back and think for a while.
Is there any sense in injecting a disease directly into the bloodstream.
We have been subjected to an awful mind control program to enable the drug manufacturers to make a fortune.

If you go to the vaccination liberation web page, at
http://www.vaclib.org/exemption.htm
You will find all the forms necessary to provide exemption for your child.
