Should they be held liable? After viewing a preview of a "R" rated movie, my 4 year old would no longer sleep in a bed by himself. What are they doing to our children?

Let me add, this commercial came on at 4:00 pm in the afternoon, while the kid was watching a cartoon. It is me sir, who wishes to protect innocent children from seeing stuff that scares a child so bad he starts wetting the bed at night.

I have wondered the same thing! We recently got DishNetwork and were watching afternoon tv when a commercial for an adult Pay-per-view show came on. The women were barely dressed and talking about things I don't want my 4 and 5 year olds to hear.

The shows and channel we were watching were not at all inappropriate for children either. One came on Animal Planet!! And of course there is a button right on the commercial to immediately switch to the channel offered.
Some of these scary movie previews are totally inappropriate. I think there should be a way to block Rated R previews. It isn't enough to warn you that it is coming on. There isn't always time to change the channel. The Grudge 2 preview scared my 4 old.

Things like that should only be shown late at night and definitely NOT on family channels.

I think those advertisements should be:

1. Able to be blocked out
2. On adult channels only
3. A warning that the ad might scare kids
4. Kids channels should have no scary ads

that's all i can think of

The world is getting crazy out there. Some of what we see in a PG-13 should be rated "R." In adds they show women behind steamed glass, (you only see there shadow of course but) every once in a while to advertise soap or something. That's what would be in a PG-13 movie. It's crazy, I know 7 year olds that watch rated "R" movies, it's nuts.

I agree with you. That new preview for the Grudge 2 is horrible.
My son doesn't watch TV, but sometimes it is on in the background. And although he is only 9 1/2 months old, I turn it off for fear it will scare the bejeesus out of him. . Who knows what stays in that little mind of his.
I agree with the fact that previews like those should be shown later at night.

Honestly previews should only been shown really late at night or on certain chanels only. Well just put them on demand.

Hmmmm.... did they show any nudity in the preview? any swearing? Then no. I don't think they should be. Now if they did any of the above then hell yea. they should.
