A transsexual/transgendered person who was murdered after being raped.

Yeah, Indy has it right; Teena was a transgendered girl who lived as a boy. I saw her story on the Biography channel once. She moved to a small town and proceeded to "pretend" to be a boy. Her family warned her about tricking people like that. The people she hung out with knew her as "Brandon". The guys in "his" group found out "he" wasn't really a guy, and reacted very violently; because they were jealous concerning their girlfriends! The two guys who killed Teena, were very small minded, small town gay haters. They saw Teena, the same way as a gay guy. If she had been more forthcoming; instead of being so deceitful.....things might have turned out differently. People get confused about Teena; she wasn't a lesbian.She was a boy on the inside; but was born a girl. It's a very sad story! I can't ever finish that movie! It's just too sad!

Indy is right. horrible, tragic story. Hilary Swank did an excellent job in the movie for which she won an Oscar. of course, Hollywood changed a few things here and there in the story, as they always do, for whatever reason. but there are excellent books and a documentary called "the Teena Brandon Story" which has been on cable...you might want to check it out.

I think that Teena was portrayed by Hillary Swank, which she won an Oscar for (if memory serves me correctly). Teena preferred to be a boy, and she was horribly beaten and... I THINK she was raped and murdered. But I thought she was a fictional character. Perhaps I'm wrong, because it's been a few years since I've seen the movie.
