When I was a kid I found a monarch butterfly caterpillar once and took it and some of its food plant home. I kept it as a pet, it even pupated and emerged as an adult butterfly. Pretty neat.
This link is to some pictures of monarch butterflies and all their different life stages. They are beautiful orange and black butterflies. They are even being bred by some companies now to release at weddings.

White ones tinged with green are the ones my cat likes to chase. There are the monarchs of course and others with monarch like colors that lite on the baby's tears growing in the shade. There are many tiger painted snowflakes in my garden. The skippers are like fast little jets with their extra set of wings.

They look kind of like the feeling of when something scares you, or like arms and legs with cloth draped over elevating into air

My favourites are the large black ones that come into my garden. They have cream & yellow markings and look very majestic. I have a photo of my daughter when she was little holding her hand up to one - cute.
