My husband and I bought an old two story home three years ago, we now have two children and only two bedrooms, we could not afford to work on the 2nd floor which had all the bedrooms.
For two years, nothing has been done to the second floor, recently we started the work, actually my father had done most of the work to the second floor (he is retired), my husband would do the work here and there, I guess whenever he felt like working upstairs.
We have ordered the carpet for the entire 2nd floor, which is coming this week, but there is still work to be done (molding, paint and finish my daughters room). My father came and started to work here again, but my husband got pissed off at me, that he did not want anymore help. He wants me to tell my father to stop coming and working on our house, but my dad is the only one who helps us out and has done most of the work here and he wants to see that this house will finally be finished, as my daughter needs a bedroom. Should he be pissed?

How about sitting both men down and talking about what's going on. Your Dad sounds great, lucky you!! Maybe your husband is a little put off, that Dad is able to work so much on upstairs. Does your husband work outside of home?? If so he doesn't have as much time as retired Dad! See if a work scheduel between the two men can be made.So it seems more of a shared effort. I don't think your husband is as pissed off as you think, he might be hurt, he sees your Dad doing for you what he wishes he could do. Try talking to the guys and getting the guys to talk to each other and get that work sched. made, and with a little luck, all might work out!!

No he really should not be angry....I mean it sounds to me like your dad has put in more time and work on the house than your husband......(not saying he is lazy) maybe this is what is bothering your husband.....I can only come up with two ways to look at this .....the first being either your husband wants your dad to stop so he has the fulfillment of finishing the house on his own.......or he thinks you dad has done enough and is stepping on his feet a little...it is probably a little of both......I would talk to you husband and try to find out how he is feeling and why....explain to him that your dad is just trying to be helpful and make things a little easier on him with him working and all....hope this helps

I agree with the first poster... but I sympathize. No matter who the two men are, it is very hard when they struggle with each other. Sometimes we stand btwn our husband/son, husband/brother....
I think it's about pride. They both want to take care of you and your family. Can you insist that your husband talk to your father himself? They might be able to come to an understanding.
Good luck.

I'm not sure if I understand why he's pissed, but he is your husband, and you should be more concerned with what he wants than what your dad wants.
