Unfortunately, poverty is a social ill that is probably going to continue increasing until government or major social changes are enacted. As a young person, you can help to alleviate poverty and the effects of poverty by educating your community about poverty in your area. You can organize food/clothing drives with the help of a local church or community center. You can also volunteer to work at a shelter, food kitchen or clothing donation center. Please become affiliated with an organization in your area if you plan to work personally with people affected by poverty. Organizations dedicated to helping poverty affected people can educate you about the risks and social issues involved with aid. They can also help to facilitate your program and give you a helping hand when you need it. Thank you for your willingness to help those in need.

Something you people can do is to empower other young people as they become more successful. If every young person who is successful in life mentors another young person who faces adversity of some kind, it would already make a huge difference. Don't try to change the world all at once - make a difference where you are involved in and use your own talents and skills. Do something you like, and transfer a sense of passion to other young people.

Work hard, become prominent in any area and use your influence to infuse into society equal education opportunities for children AND equal opportunities to second and third world countries in a liberally trading world. Boy, I feel like I am a contestant in a beauty contest. Did I win?
