In a bygone era (I was a part of it) people stayed married and worked their problems out. Now it's just too easy for anyone to say, "I'm tired of you, I want a divorce." Love of money seems to be the biggest reason for pre-nuptial agreements. To me, love is based on trust. You can't truly love someone if you don't trust them. Marriage vows used to be sacred to people, but they don't seem to be any longer. I hope this helps.

Only in a perfect world does that "til death do us part" mean anything.

People don't respect marriage anymore that's the bottom line. That means BOTH females and males (not to say everyone does not, please don't take me the wrong way) but its exactly like the rest of you have said...till i get tired of you, till i find something better, till we are broke, till the kids grow up...the list goes on and on.

With more of half of the marriages failing I suppose its only a way of protecting yourself

Because all is not fair in this world..
Unscrupulous people abound...
Pre-nuptial agreements usually involve a wealthy person and a person who has no money..
An older wealthy man and a young beautiful woman...
Think about it....

The wedding vows are a farce. These days people are making up thier own vows, if you've noticed. For example; 'till one of us has to 'find ourself' , till we have money problems, till one gains weight, till hubby loses hair, 'till the kids finish school, till we both have affairs, and my favorite......"till one of us becomes disabled by an accident or gravely ill, cause neither one of us is going to take care of a cripple (my ex-wife's words) A pre-nup is simply a get out of jail free card.

til death do us part was there first , but i guess people saw there was no lasting as long as , til death do us part. they want the easy way out without having to pay for it! wtih the pre-nup. it would be easier to walk away from all of it. without it a couple may even try harder. i think it is rediculous to have it an i personaly would never sign one.

Do they still say "till death do us part" in wedding ceremonies these days?

Its a shame. Having a pre-nupial just means you really don't have faith in your ability to love that person forever.

Why bother getting married???

So that someone won't prematurely enact the "death do us part" part of the vows. Hell, everyone need an out clause in a contract.

because in reality marriages don't last like they used to. And nobody is taking half of my stuff that I worked my butt off to get.when it comes to breaking up people get nasty , I don't know why they just can't let it go, they always want revenge.

Because these days less than half of marriages are really "til death do us part." They should say, "Til I grow tired of you, do us part."
