I have severe panic attacks mainly at night and need klonopin to sleep. Since finding out I am pregnant the panic attacks have worsened and I am still taking the klonopin. There are mixed reports on whether this is safe in the first trimester. I was wondering if anyone has taken it throughout their pregnancy and at what dosage. If so what was the outcome?

I have a 16 month old and I just found out I am pregnant again and I'm having the same problems as you. I took Klonopin with my first for the first few weeks and I had to ween myself off it. I know how scary it is. I was shaking this morning when I woke up because I hadn't taken it in 3 days ( I just found out I was pregnant 2 days ago). I had to take a 1/4 of one to stop my shaking. My son turned out fine, he's very smart and has all his parts. I'm not saying that you should take it, but at least try to ween yourself off.

I'm assuming that you've been to your doctor to discuss the pregnancy and how you should best take care of yourself.

I would recommend discussing the situation with your doctor and/or your OB. They would be best equipped to advise you how to handle your panic attacks in a way that would be safest for you and your baby. If they say it's okay to take the medicine, they can offer you a dosage that would be safe; if they say that the medicine isn't safe for you to take in the first trimester, they may have an alternative solution for you that would help.

I strongly urge you to discuss they situation with your OB or your doctor, as they'd be the most qualified to offer you the best advice in this situation.

u should've discussed this with you ob/gyn immediately following finding out you were pregnant. it's too big of a risk to take not knowing.
